Cambridge Centre for the Arts: 2008 Annual Juried Art Exhibition
I could never be a juror for an art contest. I'm a pack rat at heart. A crumpled piece of paper has artistic merit in my mind and could be a winner, or paint flung at a blank canvas . . . you get the idea. That’s what gave me an idea.
As a graphic artist, I’ve never considered what people would pay to hang art on their walls. Pushing the envelope of my photography and creative skills, I wanted to show cheaper alternatives to prints and paintings. Laser photo copiers have come a long way!
This year’s submissions were to commemorate an active lifestyle and youth. Well, let youth know they don’t need to spend a lot to be creative.
Of course, having active teens gives me a chance to hone my skills. We always encourage them to shut off the TV and computer and get active! Mind you, I have yet to get my family or friends off the couch to go to visit the Cambridge Centre for the Arts . . .
Hope you enjoy viewing my submissions. As in past years, in true fashion, they never made the show.
Thanks for advice I received. It is all about framing, and the presentation of your artwork.

2007 Annual Juried Art Exhibition
I've been a member of the Cambridge Centre for the Arts for two years. It is a great privilege to submit my artwork into the 2007 Annual Juried Exhibition. I am proud to be among the wealth of artists in our community. Browse my submitted photo images from the past two years.
In a juried exhibition, you are at the mercy of one person’s opinion. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. My favourite piece was a Dorothy Harvey painting of a glowing forest. Last year’s personal favorite was a large painting of a wooded pond by Tina Price, also my Grade 9 art teacher.
Make the effort this year to see the spectacular artwork of our great city at the juried exhibition.
The exhibition runs November 2-24, 2007 in the art gallery. Studio Thirty runs November - December 20, 2007.
Dorothy and Tina will have their work on display again.
